The standard WPF Combo Box works in exactly the same way, which was our objective when we developed the control.

But this may just be a bug in the current version of 3.5sp1 | this answer edited Feb 8 '12 at Sliver Ninja 21k 9 59 98 answered Oct 29 '08 at Aaron Fischer 11.5k 15 56 98 Using Selected Item instead worked. – Rob Sobers Oct 29 '08 at 3 Confirming this issue is still present in . – Ruud Lenders Jan 21 '13 at 1 I have a similar issue which seems to be acting oppositely from what your describing , where i am using only Selected Item stackoverflow.com/questions/22300281/…

– eran otzap Mar 10 '14 at 1 This answer solves the issue ( The above code is Two-Way so if you set Test="B"; in code then the combobox will show 'B', and then if you select 'A' from the drop down then the bound property will reflect the change.

Many WPF developers have found themselves against MVVM architecture in case like this.

in basic it sound simple , but now its not about MVVM its about WPF controls behaviors.

the same selected item, the Control by default, doesnt refresh the and raise the selection change Event and when you depend on this change , your action just not showing up, and it is very simple why..– Peter Nov 25 '11 at | Problem: The Combo Box class searches for the specified object by using the Index Of method. This method uses the Equals method to determine equality. However, I have Is Editable="True" & Is Read Only="True" set When I delete all of the text in the Combo Box using the keyboard "back space" key the property changed event isn't raised. I would expect the selected index to be -1 again and the selected value to clear to some default. This problem came to light because my Data Error Validation Rule isn't working properly if the selected Combo Box text has been fully deleted after a selection was made. When viewing the Validation Error in a message box it reads 'Value " could not be converted.' Here's my validation code for your reference: I've spent quite a lot of time debugging.
